A bit of our history and ways we serve!
To share the truth and joy of the gospel through music.
Formed in October 1993, Joyful Noise was made for the purpose of glorifying God through music by singing a cappella songs in all styles of music. As CMU's only Christian a cappella group (and one of the oldest a cappella groups too!), we are always looking to make a ruckus around Pittsburgh. You can find us sharing the gospel and singing at local nursing homes, local and national a cappella concerts, and with groups from CMU, Pitt, and beyond!

We are a group of students who are passionate about music and use it as an expression of our joy in His promises. We spend time together in rehearsals growing as musicians by working on our arrangements for the semester and always coming together to make a joyful noise!
As a group, we also prioritize what it means to be part of a community in shared faith. We grow as musicians and walk with each other in our faith. We spend time together in "ruckus", our spiritual time in addition to rehearsals, where we share testimonies, sing for each other, and get up to other general shenangians.
We are a non-competitive group who performs at retirement homes, campus events, and formal concerts each semester. We bring worship and music to as many communities as we can, even nationwide at the annual national Christian A Cappella conference, Break It Down!
